While Choosing a proper instant electric water heater. Many users have met the problems of the electric wire size is not enough. Here RKDA explains how to solve the problem and the relationship between wire size to power.

If you are using an instant water heater with 6mm² copper wires, but the wiring at home does not meet the requirements, you can buy 6mm² copper wires and connect them to air switch which is ≥40A separately from the water heater to electric meter. Note that the instantaneous electric water heater must be connected with an electric leakage protecting air switch with safe earthing.

The installation of the instant electric water heater depends on its rated maximum power before selecting the appropriate wires. Not all the instant electric water heaters are necessarily installed with 6 square copper wires.

For example: if the power is more than 7kW but less than 8.5kw, then 6mm² wires must be used. If the power is more than 5.5kW but less than 7kW, 4mm² wire is needed. if the power is between 3KW to 5.5kW, 2.5mm² wires can be used. If the power is less than 3.5kw, the direct use of 1.5 square wires can fully meet the demand.

How thick the wires need to install the instant water heater depends on the maximum power of the instant water heater.
